With the 1000Bulbs.com 500 over at Talladega Superspeedway, Kyle Larson is glad that the weekend for his No. 42 Chip Ganassi Racing team is over with.

Throughout the weekend, there appeared to be a lack of speed for the No. 42 car. During qualifying, Larson qualified 32nd, nearly two seconds off the pole-winning speed.

“We just had a terrible race car. We were really slow all weekend. We were able to salvage a decent finish,” Larson said post-race.

In typical restrictor plate racing fashion, Ford Performance was running up front and taking valuable points away from the field. Larson commented on the speed the Fords, especially Stewart-Haas Racing, had during the event

The Fords are so fast here and can rack up a lot of stage points. Even when they have a bad day, they still gain points on us. It is what it is,” he said.

Going into Kansas, Larson finds himself in position to not advance to the Round of 8 in the NASCAR Playoffs. He sits 26 points below the cutoff line. His main goal is to bring a strong cat in hopes of winning at Kansas.

“Kansas is a good track for us. We have challenged for wins there in the past. Hopefully, we can go there next week and be strong.”
