Joey Logano won Sunday’s NASCAR race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway

  • Defending Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) champion Joey Logano earned his first victory of the 2019 season in Las Vegas, leading 86 laps en route to the victory
  • Logano and Team Penske teammate Brad Keselowski swapped the lead back and forth a couple of times in the late stages of the race before Logano took the lead for the final time with 24 laps remaining; Keselowski finished second
  • Kyle Busch recovered from a lap 129 speeding penalty to finish third, but fell short of a weekend sweep across all three national series at his home track after winning in the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series on Friday and the NASCAR XFINITY Series on Saturday
  • Kevin Harvick led the most laps in the race (88) and finished fourth; Kyle Busch’s brother, Kurt, rounded out the top five
  • The margin of victory between Logano and Keselowski was 0.236 seconds, as Keselowski made a last-ditch attempt at a pass on Logano as the two came out of turn four to the start/finish line
  • Team Penske has now won two of the first three races of the season, with Keselowski winning the race at Atlanta Motor Speedway last weekend, virtually locking both drivers into the postseason
  • This was the first race with NASCAR’s new rules package and saw 19 lead changes amongst 19 drivers, and no cautions other than the stage breaks
