Kurt Busch was able to manage a fifth-place finish in the AAA 400 at Dover International Speedway after receiving a penalty early on.

With his ninth-place qualifying effort on Friday afternoon, Busch spent most of the race at the front of the field, flying under the radar. On Lap 122 under yellow flag pit stops, Busch and his team were snagged with an uncontrolled tire penalty, which put them at the tail end of the field.

Despite the penalty, Busch was proud of the effort his team put in throughout the race.

“It’s all about the team effort. Good day for us. The way that the pit stops went we had to come back from a penalty. Restarts went fair the early part of the race and went good in the latter part. Those restarts are close quarters and you need to grab spots then,” Busch stated.

Despite not having a win this season, Busch believes that the No, 41 team is somewhat flying under the radar. Busch believes that teamwork has been key and things are lining up for possible victory.

“Things are good. As long as we continue to do that and put ourselves in position to have good runs at the end of the race, we will be able to capitalize on one,” Busch stated.

With his top-five finish at Dover, Busch sits sixth in the points standings, 108 points behind the leader.
