It’s been some time, but Tyler Young will race again in the Camping World Truck Series.

While he takes on an ownership role with Young’s Motorsports in the series — supporting full-time driver Austin Hill — Young will race himself at least six times in 2018.

“I will be back,” Young told Kickin’ The Tires at Martinsville Speedway. “They’re going to let me drive this thing at least six to eight times this year.”

A Texas native, the Lonestar State is exactly where Young will make his first start of 2018, driving the team’s No. 20 at Texas Motor Speedway in April. Following the home race, Young isn’t certain where the next races will fall.

“From there, obviously, it depends on some other stuff coming up,” he said. “I know for sure it will be six to eight. I can’t wait to get back in it.”

Indeed, it’s been since last November at Texas since the Truck Series veteran filled a race seat. In 2017, the 27-year-old did eight races for the team, finishing as high as 10th at Talladega. Overall, Young has 78 career starts in the Truck Series and two in the XFINITY Series.

The time away has been tough, but he’s enjoying the time with the small team, who already have scored three top 10s in the first three races in 2018.

“I’m looking forward to being back in it,” he said. “I damn sure miss it. It’s a lot different being on this side of the fence but I’m enjoying. I look forward to going to work every day and we’re having a lot of fun.”
