After starting on the pole for the Pennzoil 400 and dominating the first stage, Kevin Harvick found himself sitting in the third position when the checkered flag flew at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

For the second week in a row, the No. 4 Ford Mustang kept getting tighter as the race progressed resulting in the team having a tougher time adjusting the car.

“The first half of the race, obviously, qualifying paid off for us,” Harvick stated post-race. “We were able to lead a lot of laps at the beginning. As the race went, we just kept getting tighter and tighter. That is two weeks in a row where our cars fall off a little bit too much as the run goes. We are having a tough time adjusting on them.

As the series heads to ISM Raceway next weekend and points beyond, Harvick knows the team has work to do, but he believes that begins when unloading off the truck Friday for practice.

“We definitely have to do some work, but they did a great job on our Ford Mustang, he said. “The last two weeks we have been in right field to start practice. They keep scrambling and taking big swings at it to get us close. Hopefully we can get that figured out and get a little closer to start practice and get into a rhythm.”

With his fourth-place finish in Las Vegas, Harvick sits second in the points standings just two points behind leader Joey Logano.
