MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.—After going winless in 2018 in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, Timmy Solomito hoped to turn the bad luck around in 2019 in the season opener at Myrtle Beach Speedway; however, the bad luck continued.
Solomito looked to have a top-10 run under his belt. Unfortunately, something on the left front broke.
“We started 11th and I got up to third,” a disappointed Solomito said. “I led for one lap after some guys pitted. We tried staying out as late as possible to get a tire. The left front hind broke. We didn’t make any contact with anybody today.
“We kept it clean the whole race. We got an aluminum hind in
the tire rod that broke. I tried to stop and get a yellow, but we didn’t get
one. They would have penalized me anyways. I sat in the pits and they fixed it.”
Despite the feeling of disappointment leaving Myrtle Beach, Solomito is looking forward to heading to South Boston (VA) in a couple of weeks.
“Well, we can’t change it now. It is already behind us. We will drive home and get some work done and hopefully run up front at South Boston,” he said.
Solomito finished in the 28th position, 20 laps down.
