On the day following each regular season points race, Kickin’ the Tires takes a deep look at the current playoff grids for both the NASCAR XFINITY Series and Camping World Truck Series, evaluating the postseason picture for NASCAR’s second and third tours.

Camping World Truck Series

Track: Martinsville Speedway

Event: Alpha Energy Solutions 250

Race Winner: John Hunter Nemechek

Stage Winner(s): Ben Rhodes (Won both stages)

Who Won Big

  • Ben Rhodes: Playoff points. ‘Nough said. Rhodes dominated the first half of Monday’s snow-delayed race, claiming both of the race’s opening stages. He didn’t get a playoff-clinching win in the end, but the ThorSport Racing star still garnered two important playoff points that he can use if/once he makes the postseason.
  • Grant Enfinger: Another solid run. Enfinger continued to show the pace and resiliency he’s displayed through the early stretch if the season, earning a fourth-place finish and leaving Virginia second in points.
  • Noah Gragson: See Enfinger. Gragson and the Alabama native were two of the first drivers that fell short of a playoff bid last season. This year they both find themselves inside of the top five in the standings through four races. Gragson left Martinsville fifth in points after finishing in the same position on Monday.

 Who Hurt Their Odds:

  • Stewart Friesen: He looked competitive early on, but involvement in a mid-race crash and subsequent struggles relegated the dirt ace to 20th at race’s end. Friesen now sits sixth in the standings, just four points above the bubble.
  • Cody Coughlin: You can survive at a short-track with minor damage. Brakes, on the other hand? Not so much. Coughlin fell victim to brake issues in Martinsville, dropping to a 26th-place result that have left him 31 points out of the playoff grid heading into the Easter break.
