On the day following each regular season points race, Kickin’ the Tires takes a deep look at the current playoff grids for both the NASCAR XFINITY Series and Camping World Truck Series, evaluating the postseason picture for NASCAR’s second and third tours.

XFINITY Series

Track: Auto Club Speedway

Event: Roseanne 300

Race Winner: Joey Logano

Stage Winner(s): Joey Logano (Won both stages)

Who Won Big

• Justin Allgaier: Another week, another strong run for Allgaier. The Illinoisan claimed 16 stage points and finished second to lead all Xfinity regulars in Fontana, bringing him within five points of leader Elliott Sadler.
• Elliott Sadler: Speaking of the points leader… Sadler kept his streak of consistency alive, scoring a third-place finish and keeping himself atop the standings after five races.
• Ross Chastain: Not bad, JD Motorsports. Chastain had a strong No. 4 Chevrolet in California, earning stage points and snagging a top 10 to draw within four points of the current playoff grid leaving the West Coast Swing.

 Who Hurt Their Odds:

• Austin Cindric: For the third time in four starts with Roush Fenway Racing, Cindric found himself with a damaged race car. The rookie ultimately finished 28th after smacking the wall, dropping to 18th in the championship standings.
• Christopher Bell and Michael Annett: The days of Bell and Annett fell apart when the duo collided on the two-mile Fontana oval, relegating them to finishes of 18th (Annett) and 21st (Bell). The rookie Bell dropped to a distant fourth in the standings as a result, while Annett 33 points out of the postseason field in 14th.

Playoff Standings:

*Technically ineligible due to missed races. Would require a waiver to make the playoffs.
