He capped off his 20th year in the NASCAR Cup Series in November at Homestead-Miami Speedway where he had tallied up three top-five, 14-top ten finishes.

In addition, the South Bend Indiana native made the NASCAR playoffs but a costly mistake at Charlotte Motor Speedway’s Roval at the end of September cost him a chance at advancing to the next round.

Newman enters 2020 with the backing of returning sponsors such as Wyndham Rewards and Oscar Mayer but new as well.

It was announced on Wednesday that Castrol would join Roush Fenway Racing as it’s official oil as well as a primary sponsor for Newman in select 2020 races.

The veteran driver will look to capture his first win in 2020 since Phoenix Raceway in the Spring of 2017.

He did come close to winning this past season in the fall race at Talladega Superspeedway.

However, he came up short with a second-place finish behind eventual race winner, Ryan Blaney.

With the NASCAR Cup Series season-opener Daytona 500 less then a month away, Newman will go after his second career Daytona 500 win.

It’s important to note, he won the prestigious event back in 2008 behind the wheel of the No. 12 Alltel Dodge for Team Penske.

Overall, at the 2.5-mile superspeedway, Newman has tallied up one win, six top-five and 11 top-10 finishes in 36 career starts.

With that said, in Newman’s last two Daytona 500 starts he’s finished 8th and 14th.
