Scott McLaughlin Leads the Way in Saturday Practice in Nashville; Team Penske Sweeps Top-Three

NASHVILLE – Scott McLaughlin led the way in Saturday’s sole practice session for the NTT Data IndyCar Series. McLaughlin has two victories so far in the 2022 campaign and turned the fastest lap in Saturday morning’s practice session in downtown Nashville.

McLaughlin turned a 01:15.4609-minute (100.184-mph) lap around the temporary street circuit.

“It’s about as hot as the DEX Imaging Chevy right now,” McLaughlin said. “The car feels really nice. I’m feeling really good. Very hot out there, but we train hard for this. It’s humid; that’s the hardest thing for us as drivers.

“We hardly changed (the car). We took a little bit of front wing out and focused on what I can do.”

His Team Penske teammates Josef Newgarden and Will Power finished second and third in the session with Newgarden’s lap 0.2945-seconds off his teammates’ lap. Power, the current NTT Data IndyCar Series points leader, was 0.0861-seconds off the top spot.

Gallagher Grand Prix winner Alexander Rossi finished the session in the fourth position while Kyle Kirkwood rounded out the top five.
