Although he was racing for the Dash4Cash bonus at Bristol Motor Speedway, Michael Annett finished last of the four competitors.

For the veteran driver, his race was determined on the initial green flag start of the race where he lost about five spots due to being free.

“To me, it all came down to the initial spot,” Annett said. “I lost four or five spots there. We were really free and could never get that track position back.”

By the time Annett reached the seventh position in the second stage, he felt the momentum stall and had to wait for someone in front of him to make a mistake.

“It was really hard to pass,” he said. “I had to be on the bottom in One and Two and then the top in Three and Four. Everyone I was around felt like they were in the same boat. It was following the leader from there. The tires never really fell off. It was manageable for everybody with hopes the person in front would miss the bottom or jump the cushion.”

As the series heads to Richmond Raceway next Friday, Annett knows that he and the team will have some work to do at one of his better tracks.
