Thad Moffitt Tallies Second Podium Finish of 2021 at Mid-Ohio

Thad Moffitt’s 2021 has been impressive, to say the least.

Moffitt, embarking on his fifth year involved in the ARCA Menards Series is mounting to back up his strong season from 2020. Friday’s showing at Mid-Ohio was just learning how to run a road course and he still finished in third.

“I think the biggest effect it had was on our drive-off,” said Moffitt. “The biggest thing for me was learning the entire race up here, this is only my second road course race and the first one was in the rain. So I learned a lot today and a lot to take into Watkins Glen later this year and hopefully improve on this third-place finish.”

Moffitt battled strongly throughout the race with NASCAR Xfinity Series winner Brandon Jones and 2020 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series regular-season champion Austin Hill. Moffitt came from the ninth position and battled his way through the field. Friday’s podium finish by Moffitt marks his sixth straight top-10 finish of 2021 and ties his season-best finish.

Moffitt was running in the second position late in the race before getting passed by Hill.

The third-place finish Friday matches his best-career finish earned earlier this season at Phoenix. The momentum has solidly come from his fourth-place finish last season at Memphis, his last race of the 2020 season. Moffitt sits third in Sioux Chief Showdown Series standings after two races, six points behind Ty Gibbs.
