NASCAR Pinty’s Series veteran Donald Theetge will be making the move to the ARCA Menards Series East in 2022.
Theetge, the Boischatel, Quebec, Canada native will be making his ARCA Menards Series East debut next month at New Smyrna Speedway. He will also race at Five Flags Speedway in the second race of the season. Visconti Motorsports owner John Visconti had confirmed to Kickin’ the Tires in an interview earlier this month that they had a driver lined up but was just ironing out the final details.
Visconti Motorsports confirmed on Friday that Theetge would be taking over the No. 74 in at least the first two races of the 2022 season.
“Discussions are taking place for more races during the season, and announcements could be made later,” said Visconti in the team release. “We are thrilled by the partnership and looking forward to the start of the season and to try to win some races.”
Visconti Motorsports finished fourth in the 2021 ARCA Menards Series East points standings, finishing a season-best second twice with Mason Diaz. Theetge will look to continue that success and find a victory for the first time in his ARCA Menards Series East career. He has one career victory in the NASCAR Pinty’s Series coming in 2018 at Wyant Group Raceway.
Theetge brings a solid resume to the ARCA Menards Series East with a total of 54 starts in a NASCAR Series. He has four career starts in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and 48 starts in the Pinty’s Series. Theetge has finished 25th twice in the Xfinity Series which holds as his career-best finish. The veteran has solid experience on short tracks and will look to use that to his advantage in the East Series.
The ARCA Menards Series East season will debut on February 15th with the Race to Stop Suicide 200 presented by Place of Hope at New Smyrna Speedway. The race will be broadcasted live on FloRacing starting at 7:40 p.m. ET and can also be heard live on the ARCARacing website.
