MARTINSVILLE, VA– Defending series champion Brett Moffitt came into Saturday afternoon’s NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series NASCAR Hall of Fame 200 from Martinsville Speedway with his worst finish being a sixth-place result in his debut at the track in 2017.

However, that would all change Saturday afternoon.

It started out as a promising day with Moffitt starting the NASCAR Hall of Fame 200 on the front row after qualifying second to Kyle Busch Motorsports driver Christian Eckes.

Moffitt went on to lead 80 laps including winning the first stage of the event.

During stage two on lap 115 would be when Moffitt’s day went down hill fast when his No. 24 CMR Construction and Roofing Chevrolet for GMS Racing was involved in a multi truck incident.

Moffitt’s Chevrolet suffered significant left front damage and he retired from the race on lap 122, ultimately being credited with a 29th place finish.

“We’ll just go on and try to win at Phoenix and Homestead,” said Moffitt.

Saturday’s 29th place result is Moffitt’s worst finish at Martinsville Speedway since his sixth-place finish in his spring debut at the track during the 2017 season.

Prior to today’s events, Moffitt saw finishes of third, second, and third.

Moffitt heads into the series next event on November 8, the Lucas Oil 150 from ISM Raceway (Phoenix) as the points leader as well as the defending race winner from one year ago.

A race which will set the final four drivers who will compete for the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series Championship at Homestead-Miami Speedway on November 15.
