In this week’s edition of Flashback Friday, Kickin’ The Tires relives when NASCAR driver Ty Dillon won the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series WinStar World Casino 350 at Texas Motor Speedway for Richard Childress Racing on November 1, 2013.
It was a race for the record books as NASCAR driver Ty Dillon not only completely dominated the WinStar World Casino 350 at Texas Motor Speedway but went on to drive his No. 3 Bass Pro Shops / Tracker Boat Chevrolet to it’s 100th NASCAR victory across the sanctioning body’s three main series.
After starting the event in third, it didn’t take Dillon long to find his way to the lead as he led 130 of the races 147 laps. The victory was Dillon’s second of the 2013 season after winning at Kentucky Speedway earlier in the season.
“It’s great. To have my grandson to win the 100th race with the No. 3, with Dale Earnhardt, and Austin and Ty, all they’ve done, it’s very, very special,” said Childress. “It’ll be a night I remember for a long time. I know Dale Earnhardt is smiling down tonight.”

The No. 3 was used regularly by Childress in the truck series but following Dale Earnhardt’s death on the final lap of the 2001 Daytona 500, Childress opted to not bring back the No. 3 full-time until Austin Dillon made the move to the then Nationwide Series in 2012.
Career Update:
As of 2019, Ty Dillon continues to race full-time in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series for Germain Racing in the No. 13 GEICO Chevrolet since replacing veteran driver Casey Mears beginning in 2017.
Since making his Cup debut in 2014, Dillon has earned 1 top-five, and four top-10’s in MENCS competition.
Dillon’s best finish in 2019 thus far a fourth-place finish in July’s Coke Zero Sugar 400 from Daytona International Speedway.
Heading into this weekend’s AAA Texas 500 at Texas Motor Speedway Dillon’s 2019 resume consists of one top-five, and three top-10 finishes in 33 starts.
In addition, Dillon earned the first stage win of his career by edging fellow competitor Clint Bowyer earlier this season at Bristol Motor Speedway.
