AVONDALE, Ariz. – Zane Smith will start on pole for the championship-deciding race at Phoenix Raceway.
With a speed of 138.032 mph timed at 26.081 seconds means he will be the first to see the green flag in Friday evening’s Lucas Oil 150.
The Front Row Motorsports driver may be going for his first career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship, but alongside him will be another headline driver of Layne Riggs. The 2022 NASCAR Weekly Series champion earned his best career start and will be on the front row with Smith in what will be his third career start.
Corey Heim (137.373 mph), Tanner Gray (136.986) and Stewart Friesen (136.971) complete the top five starting spots.
Sixth through ninth was held by the ThorSport Racing stable with Championship 4 contender Ben Rhodes (136.804) leading the way over Christian Eckes (136.726), Playoff driver Ty Majeski (136.560) and Matt Crafton (136.152).
John Hunter Nemechek (136.008) was the last driver in the 136 mph bracket and wrapped up the top 10 positions. Chandler Smith (135.660) was the only championship competitor to qualify outside of the top 10 and will roll off the sixth row in the 12th position.
The Truck season finale is set to wave the green flag at 10 p.m. ET Friday, airing on FS1 and Sirius XM Radio Channel 90.
