Brandon Brown and Brandonbilt Motorsports have a new partner for this weekend’s unique race weekend at Pocono Raceway.

The Garrett Companies, a leader in land and commercial development in the northern Virginia area, has signed on to sponsor Brown’s No. 68 Chevrolet for a current one-race deal for Sunday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series event at Pocono. (Watch the announcement video below).

The Pocono Green 225 set for Sunday will be the company’s first foray into the NASCAR sponsorship realm. And after years of friendship, Andy Garrett, CEO of The Garrett Companies, is excited to finally partner with Brown.

“I’ve seen this young man from birth all the way up to getting into go karts,” Garrett said of Brown. “And then Truck racing and now the Xfinity Series. I’ve watched him grow and it’s been a fascinating journey in regard to just being close and watching his maturity level from a far.

“Just to see how he conducts himself in interviews and watch his growth has been fantastic. He’s a fine young man and he’s doing wonderful things with NASCAR. To just be a part of it is a big honor for me and I’m proud to do it.”

For Brown, it’s only natural for a family friend to join the family-run team of Brandonbilt.

“Growing up, it was always uncle Andy,” Brown said. “Around with dad, they’ve been best friends for a long time. Andy has been a huge supporter of myself and my racing endeavors. No matter what happens in the race, he always had a great attitude about it.

“It’s amazing to finally knock him over and get him onboard on the car. I think it’s taken years of trying [laughs]. We’re happy to have him onboard and happy to bring him in on the No. 68. it’s incredible to have family friends onboard.”

Starting 24th for Sunday’s 90-lap race, Brown will hope to continue what has been a career year for himself and Brandonbilt in 2021.

“Statistically on track, it’s our best year,” Brown said. “At times, it doesn’t feel that way when you have races like Nashville. But it’s those kinds of races that will make going out and winning Pocono in the Garrett Development Chevrolet that much sweeter.

“I’m really looking forward to having Andy and his family at the track with us to really experience NASCAR. This time, he gets to experience it as a sponsor, not just as a family friend. It’s going to be a really cool weekend.”

This is the latest step forward for The Garrett Companies, who have been in the commercial development industry for more than 30 years.

“We started in 1987 as a home builder,” Garrett said. “We sold our home-building company to focus on land development. We’ve been in the land development for roughly 30 years. That’s our mainstay, we have ventured in and out of other commercial real estate ventures such as retail and office building and also property management and apartment rentals.”
