One of the most diverse guys in the garage has possibly called it a career in NASCAR’s premier level.

That driver is AJ Allmendinger.

The veteran drivers career saw 295 starts in NASCAR national series competition.

After the Ford EcoBoost 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway, Allmendinger described his emotions as bittersweet.

“It is bittersweet. It’s sad, but I know better things in the future and I truly feel like I left this place better than when I got here. That’s all I can ask for,” he stated post-race.

After taking a few moments to catch his breath, he thanked his team for their efforts and their support through the ups and downs.

“I really enjoyed my guys. They made it a lot of fun even at tough times in certain periods of this trip. I can look back and always wish to get more, but say would’ve, could’ve, should’ve, but we got a victory together, made the Chase. These guys really made it enjoyable especially these last 10 races with Trent Owens,” the veteran driver stated.

What will Allmendinger miss the most about racing in NASCAR? The people that he worked with.

“It’s really just being with the guys. This is a grueling schedule. If you don’t have fun guys to work with and guys through thick and thin that enjoy it and trust each other, it can make it a grind. It’s a grind anyway,” he stated.

“I am not going to miss waking up every weekend to go to a race for sure. Just being here with the guys and going through the ups and downs and fighting together.”

When asked about possibly being in Daytona for the Rolex 24 at Daytona, Allmendinger does not know if he will.
