After it was announced on Wednesday that he would be moving to a part-time schedule driving the No. 6 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series entry for Roush-Fenway Racing, Trever Bayne is focused on the task at hand this weekend at Talladega.

One question that arose when the news broke that Bayne was sick. In 2011 and 2012, Bayne was diagnosed with Lyme disease. Stemming from that diagnoses, doctors believed that he had multiple sclerosis, but in recent months, the young driver mentioned that he was misdiagnosed.

“First of all, my health is 100%. I am as fit physically, mentally and spiritually as I have ever been to do my job well,” Bayne said outside of his hauler.

Is his desire to race still there? According to Bayne, it is.

“The second part is that my desire is still as it has always been since I was five-years-old to come to the track every weekend to contend for wins and championships and be a driver at the top level in the Cup Series. Nothing there has changed. I am still going to pursue that because I feel I have the ability to do that.”

Despite the many questions still there, Bayne’s main goal is to come into Talladega and go for the win.

“I am here to win Talladega as I had planned to do before any of this. That is what I am going to do. That you guys so much.”

  1. I do not think Bayne has the talent for a cup ride. His Daytona win obviously got gim to this point. Ridiculous that a talent level of Kenseth without a ride and Bayne with one. Jack Roush is in trouble from a talent level standpoint. Hopefully Matt Kenseth can bring performance back and hopefully attract a younger wheelman to Roush for the future.
