It was a race from the back of the field towards the front for Christopher Bell at Iowa Speedway in the Iowa 250.
Bell’s day started at the back of the field after he was unable to complete a lap in qualifying prior to the race. Bell began the event from the 39th position. When the green flag fell, Bell began his migration to familiar territory.
In just 28 laps, Bell had worked his way inside the top-five. By the end of the first stage, Bell had worked his way to sixth.
By the conclusion of the second stage, Bell was in a position to race Justin Allgaier for the race win. However, after numerous tries, Bell was unable to pass Allgaier due to being on the bottom side of the track.
“There wasn’t anything I needed. I just needed to be in front of him. We were equal. I could never clear him on the bottom,” Bell said post-race.
Bell finished the race in second. He sits fifth in the point standings just 33 points behind the leader, Elliott Sadler.
