The quest for a three-peat on the Streets of St. Petersburg ended earlier for defending race winner Sebastien Bourdais.

When the green flag fell in St. Petersburg, Florida, Bourdais started in the __ position. On Lap 11, Bourdais hit pit road for four tires and fuel; however, by Lap 12 in Turn 10, he was in a wall cut out getting prepped to head to the paddock for a mechanical issue.

According to the veteran driver, there was an issue with the drive train.

“It was the drive train,” Bourdais said about the incident. “I have no idea what is broken in there. The engine was running so I’m not sure. There was a ton of fluid.”

Despite wanting to win for the third consecutive time, Bourdais did not place blame on anyone for the accident.

“Obviously not the day we wanted, but I still have a great team. There is no need to take it on anyone else.”

Bourdais finished 24th.
