It was a solid day for Ross Chastain, driver of the No. 4 for JD Motorsports, in the Fitzgerald Glider Kits 300 at Bristol Motor Speedway. Chastain was able to score a ninth-place finish.
It was a day full of attrition through the 300 lap event, but Chastain was able to run in the top-15 for majority of the race. The top-10 finish was a “big day” for veteran driver and JD Motorsports.
“We fought and clawed, running into people, all race long. It was definitely a rough race running around the bottom. It was cool. It was the first time I ever experienced that. We never go up top. I guess the old Bristol is back,” Chastain said post-race.
Chastain knew that he couple be a couple more positions higher at the end of the race. However, during the green flag stretch that went from lap 193 to 285, the No. 4 car was getting tight and worried about blowing a right front tire. Luckily, the team told Chastain to back off on the speed to prevent the tire from popping.
With his run at Bristol, Chastain sits 12th in the point standing, only 98 points behind the leader, Elliott Sadler.
