Daniel Hemric’s Dash 4 Cash hopes for Richmond Raceway were dashed by a post-race inspection failure at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Hemric, 27, appeared to qualify for one of the four Dash 4 Cash positions in Richmond when he earned a third-place finish in Saturday’s Fitzgerald Glider Kits 300. But afterward NASCAR claimed Hemric’s No. 21 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet failed post-race inspection due to an issue with “mechanical measurement.”

As a result the North Carolinian will be replaced by sixth-place finisher Brandon Jones of Joe Gibbs Racing. Any additional penalties or fines for the infringement will be announced next week.

Ryan Preece earned the $100,000 bonus for winning the opening round of the Dash 4 Cash program with his victory at Bristol Motor Speedway. However, Preece will be unable to participate in the second round at Richmond because he isn’t competing in the event.

The four drivers that will be eligible for the Dash 4 Cash bonus at Richmond are Justin Allgaier, Elliott Sadler, Spencer Gallagher and Jones.

UPDATE: 4/15/18 11:49 a.m. ET

After reviewing their rulebook, NASCAR has decided to rescind the penalties issued to Hemric and have reinstated him into the Desh 4 Cash incentive program. Hemric’s return to the program eliminates Jones from the Dash 4 Cash quartet. Additional information can be found here.
