Following the weekend at Texas Motor Speedway for the NASCAR XFINITY Series and Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR has issued only one penalty.

A L-1 penalty was assessed to the No. 9 Cup team of Chase Elliott.

The team was found in violation of Section 20.4.8.1 of the rule book. According to the rule book, the car had a brace in the rear window that did not meet specifications for keeping rear window glass rigid in all directions.

As a result, crew chief, Alan Gustafson, has been fined $50,000 and suspended from the next two Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series championship points events. The team also lost 20 driver and 20 owner points as a result.

The team will not appeal the penalty. Kenny Francis has been named as the interim crew chief for the No. 9 team for Bristol and Richmond.
