It was oh so close for Grant Enfinger in the final laps at Eldora Speedway during the Eldora Dirt Derby on Wednesday night.

Because of a wreck with two laps to go in regulation, the race was sent into NASCAR Overtime. When the field went green, it was a battle between Enfinger and ThorSport Racing teammate, Chase Briscoe. Enfinger was pinned on the high side, while Briscoe was pinned on the inside.

As they entered into Turn 3 on the final lap, Enfinger had the advantage on the outside. However, by the exit of Turn 4, the veteran driver was pinned between Briscoe and the outside wall. Enfinger lost the race by half-of-a-truck.

However, there were no hard feelings from Enfinger about the way Briscoe raced him in the final laps.

“We had the position on him. We really had equal trucks. Both of these Ford f-150’s were really equal. It wasn’t anything dirty. It’s the same thing I would have done to him It’s the last lap at Eldora,” Enfinger said after the race.

In just two starts at Eldora, Enfinger has posted top-10’s in both events. This was his ninth top-10 finish of the 2018 season.

With the playoffs approaching, Enfinger believes that it’s time to step up the game.

“We had three trucks this year that were able to contend for race wins. We weren’t able to do that last year. We stepped up this year. We have a few races to the playoffs, we have to step it up.”
