It was another strong showing for Kaz Grala and Fury Race Cars at Daytona International Speedway.
According to the team, the chassis ran was from Evernham Motorsports and is about ten years old. However, managed to salvage a fifth-place finish. In the closing laps of the race, Grala’s goal was to hold his line and not lift.
“You know on an overtime attempt in any plate race that no one is gonna lift and it’s gonna be hectic. I knew I wasn’t gonna lift, so I just stayed in line and basically went as far as I could get forward and we got up to fifth,” Grala stated.
In just six races, Grala was able to score the organization’s first top-five finish. With another solid race under their belts, the run at Daytona will be helpful as they find sponsorship.
“Right now, our future is unsure. We don’t have the Kentucky race sold yet, so I’m not sure if we’ll be out there next week, but good runs like this always help try to sell more races going forward. Hopefully, we’ll be able to continue running at least some this year,” Grala said.
With cars being dependent on aerodynamics and motors, Grala was impressed that the team was able to get a good finish. The finish at Daytona was a big motivation booster for the team.
