Jeffrey Earnhardt is still looking for a full-time competitive ride in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series after splitting with StarCom Racing.

The tansition from the 2017 season to the 2018 season has not been what Earnhardt would have wanted. Earnhardt lost his ride at Circle Sport-The Motorsports Group in December after the two organizations split. This news came to a shock to the young driver as he had signed a deal with the organization in October with hulu to run full-time.

In January, StarCom announced that Earnhardt would join their organization for 2018. After the first five races in 2018, Earnhardt and the organization announced that the two parties mutually split ways.

Earnhardt opened up to Kickin’ The Tires at Bristol Motor Speedway about the split with StarCom and his future within the sport.

“It was one of those deals that on the funding side of things, we had to step back and look at where we were going to spend that money. We are still working on building our sponsor side of things to be able to get in a competitive car. It’s just one of those deals that sucks, but it’s better to take a step back and assess the situation to make it better. That is where we are at.

Despite searching for that competitive ride, Earnhardt and the team at JEI have things in the works.

“We have some good stuff in the works. Nothing for certain right now, but definitely something that has me pumped up and excited.”
