Schedules, schedules, schedules.

While drivers are lobbying for more dirt tracks, road courses and short tracks to be added to future Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series schedules, Joey Logano has another idea… no repeat visits to current racetracks we have now.

Logano, who has won 19 races across 12 tracks on the current Cup schedule, would enjoy one race per track. The idea would “make every race an event” for the local race fans.

“Going to a racetrack one time makes sense to me,” Logano said Friday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. “Whether it’s a mile-and-a-half, a superspeedway, whatever it may be. If you go to a racetrack once it makes it an event.”

With Las Vegas Motor Speedway adding a second date for this year’s playoffs, New Hampshire is on the opposite end, losing a date for it’s New England miler. Logano believes this weekend will test his theory of one race equaling more support.

“This weekend will be a great test to see how that works out,” he said. “It was two races and you’re a fan who can only afford to go to one, you’re most likely going to choose the playoff race.

“It will be interesting to see what the stands look like on Sunday because now it’s an event. You can’t miss this one and have a chance to go to the next. This is the race.”

With the Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval added in 2018, that makes 24 different track layouts for the 36-race season. Though there may not be enough in NASCAR’s budget for 12 new circuits, Logano is in full support of dirt tracks and… well, any type of racing.

“Short tracks are a lot of fun. I like them a lot,” he said. “If you want to go dirt racing, strap me in, let’s go! I don’t care, as long as we’re racing.”
