It was an unexpected seventh-place finish for Jesse Little and JJL Motorsports at Gateway Motorsports Park.
According to Little, the truck was not as good as all night. However, as the ran their own race, trucks began to fall out of the race due to attrition. As trucks began to fall out of the race, the No. 97 team began to play the strategy game.
“We weren’t very good all night I felt like. I got lucky. We ran our race. A lot of guys fell out and a lot of guys had issues. We had some good strategy there. We took two and that held us decent. We did pretty well taking four there at the last stop being that we could stay out the rest of the way. Tires weren’t with huge falloff,” Little stated.
Despite finishing within the top-10, Little was disappointed because he didn’t believe they had the speed to be in seventh.
On the last restart of the race, Little had made contact with the No. 16 Truck of Brett Moffitt. Little was going to review the tape after the event to see what happened with Moffitt
“I got into the 16 on that last restart. I don’t know if someone got into the back of me or someone got in too hard and lost all front down. I hate that for him. We are good buddies. It was a decent night. Fourth top-10 out of five races is good for our little team. We will take it and go and work on it a lot,” Little continued,
As the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series heads to Chicagoland Speedway, Little and the No. 97 JJL team will work on the truck and hopefully return to competition in August at Bristol Motor Speedway.
