As the Playoffs approach, Joey Logano is locked in with his win at Talladega, but the goal is for the team to find the long run speed.

During the Bristol Night Race, Logano and his No. 22 were able to score a stage point in the second stage,.

“It felt okay. The stage win was great. I love that. Anytime you get a playoff point is great,” Logano stated.

In recent weeks, Logano has not been the consistent name in the top-five like he usually is. The veteran driver has recognized that the team has been consistent, but circumstances haven’t been the best. Despite the circumstances not being right, he would not necessarily call the last few weeks a slump.

“I wouldn’t say we’ve been in a little slump, but we kind of have been. We’ve been consistent and run in the top 10 and that’s just kind of where we’d run.  We had a couple wrecks here recently with Pocono and Watkins Glen and a top 10 last week felt OK,” he stated. “I felt like we had a better car than a top 10 last week and then this week we had a car that could win if circumstances played out right, which it didn’t, but, overall, I’m proud of the speed we had on the short run.”

As the playoffs approach in two races, Logano believes that the team is making the progress to compete with the sports “Big 3”.

While some would write off those three guys as locks for the championship battle at Homestead-Miami Speedway, Logano believes that they are far from being locked in.

“I think they are far from locked in. When we get to that final round, it only takes a couple of guys to win and those top-three are outside looking in. That’s the great thing about this playoff system,” Logano stated. “You’re never out of it. You always have a chance. Now they have a great advantage, don’t get me wrong and they deserve it, but you’re never out of it either.”

Over the next three weeks Logano wants to do this one thing: “I wanna go fast, that’s pretty simple.”
