Leavine Family Racing (LFR) announced on Monday that Todd Parrott has been relieved from his duties as crew chief of the No. 95 Chevrolet piloted by Michael McDowell.
In a statement released on Twitter by the team, Parrott and LFR have parted ways with five race remaining in the season.
“Todd Parrott has been relieved of Crew Chief duties for the remainder of the 2017 season effective immediately. After careful consideration and numerous discussions regarding the position of Crew Chief, we have decided to go in a different direction. While we continue to explore our options for the 2018 race season, Jon Leonard will assume the duties of interim Crew Chief,” the team said in a statement.
Parrott has been around the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series garage since 1995 with Ernie Ervin. He has been the crew chief for Dale Jarrett, Elliott Sadler, David Gilliland, Travis Kvapil, Bobby Labonte, Matt Kenseth, Marcos Ambrose, Aric Almirola, Reed Sorenson, Michael Annett, Ty Dillon, Ryan Newman, Brian Scott, and McDowell. Through his career, he has collected 31 wins, the most recent win in 2012 with Ambrose at Watkins Glen International.
The release of Parrott continues the changes at LFR as they prepare for the arrival of Kasey Kahne in the 2018 season.
