UPDATE: Shortly after the announcement was made of the combined donation, team owner Roger Penske, stepped up and matched the amount, bringing the total contribution to the Joey Logano Foundation to $110,000.

HOMESTEAD, Fla. – Sometimes good news is hard to find in the NASCAR world but Joey Logano has been overrun with it this week as the newly-named Comcast Community Champion Award of the Year recipient has received another major contribution for his charity – this one from Shell Oil Company and Motiva in the combined amount of $55,000 and it allows his Joey Logano Foundation to continue granting second chances to young adults and children across the country.

“Shell could not be happier to support Joey’s efforts and the continued growth and impact of the Joey Logano Foundation,” said Heidi Massey-Bong, Global Manager, Sponsorships for Shell Oil Company. “we wanted to make this donation to underline the tremendous success and recognition that Joey and his foundation are achieving around the country.”

The company presented Logano with the $55,000 check during an event in south Florida, as he prepares to try and bring home the 2018 Monster Energy Cup Series Championship to Penske Racing in the No. 22 Shell-Pennzoil Ford.

At 28-years-old, Logano and his JLF organization was founded in 2013 to focus on giving “second chances” and since that time he and his wife have made it their mission to help others. The amount contributed to helping others at this point stands at $2.7 million. The Chasing Second Chances program is part of the JLF’ s initiative to empower charities making great strides in NASCAR race markets. The program is executed during the 10-week NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series Playoff stretch. The Thanksgiving Shopping event is the last in a sequence of giving events sponsored by JLF and is the final event leading up to the NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Championship Ford EcoBoost 400 race at Homestead-Miami Speedway (HMS).

“We are proud to support Joey’s foundation because of how much we respect their hands-on approach in offering second chances to those in need,” said Paul Stanifer, Director of Product Sales for Houston, Texas-based Motiva Enterprises LLC. “The ability to support the Joey Logano Foundation also gives us a tremendous opportunity to help the communities where Motiva and its wholesalers operate every day.”

The final JLF Chasing Second Chances event of 2018 also included the third annual Joey Logano Thanksgiving Shopping Event, where 100 South Florida families received a grocery store shopping spree to help them enjoy a happy Thanksgiving holiday. The shopping spree took place at the Publix grocery store in Waterstone Plaza in Homestead on Saturday night, November 17th. The families in need were treated to the shopping spree as well as a number of other donations on behalf of JLF, the Homestead Police Department, Shell Oil Company, Motiva Enterprises LLC, Planet Fitness, the NASCAR Foundation, Homestead-Miami Speedway, and the Rondeau family.

Earlier in the week, Logano was presented with a $60,000 donation after being named the winner of the Comcast award.
