After Kevin Harvick’s win at ISM Raceway, team co-owner, Tony Stewart, confirmed that the organization would not appeal the penalty assessed to the No. 4 team following Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
“How many appeals have you seen been overturned?” Stewart stated after the race.
Harvick won the race without car chief, Robert “Cheddar” Smith, on Sunday. Smith is currently serving a two-race suspension after NASCAR found the No. 4 team in violation of the rule book for a rear window brace and an aluminum side skirt. Rodney Childers, crew chief, was fined $50,000. The team was docked 20 driver and owner points and stripped away of the seven playoff points gained.
With his third straight victory of 2018, Harvick leads the points standings by 12 over Kyle Busch. Despite the playoff points garnered at Las Vegas, Harvick has 11 playoff points, the most of any driver.
