Jimmie Johnson trades in his fire suit for a suit and tie Saturday during the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
Johnson will join 2014 NASCAR premier series champion Kevin Harvick and Adam Alexander in the FOX Sports 1 booth during the Rinnai 250. This will be Johnson’s maiden voyage in the TV booth.
“On my first try, I’m just going to try to fit in and go with the flow and just see how it goes,” Johnson said. “But I do know all those folks on the television-side from producers to directors and talent, so I feel very comfortable and know that it’s going to be a fun environment and I look forward to hopefully calling it tomorrow and that the weather stays away.”
For his booth debut, Johnson and the team at FOX kicked around different ideas for the broadcast.
“We’ve been kicking around ideas from different segments and different things that I’d like to add to the broadcast. But at the same time, with Adam Alexander and Kevin Harvick in the booth, they’re both fantastic at what they do,” he said.
Coverage of the Rinnai 250 at Atlanta will begin at 2 p.m. ET on FS1 and Performance
Racing Network.
