NASCAR officials announced Wednesday a tweak in the 2019 rules package for events at Pocono Raceway, Darlington Raceway and Homestead-Miami Speedway
These three tracks will include the 550 horsepower package with aero ducts, not the brake ducts.
These changes were made following data review after the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway in February.
“When we originally looked at which elements of the package to race at each track, we wanted to err on the side of caution at a few tracks where there may be some brake cooling concerns,” said John Probst, NASCAR senior vice president, innovation and racing development, to NASCAR.com. “After reviewing data from Atlanta, and with what we’ve learned over the first 11 races, we believe we can use the ducts without issue. In conversations with the teams, they emphasized the desire to focus on one race package, which will continue to improve the racing.”
The rules package remains the same for every other racetrack on the schedule.
