Chase Sexton entered the final round at Las Vegas as one of the three contenders in a winner-take-all scenario for the World Championship.

Unfortunately, a collision with Justin Barcia in Moto 1 ended that chance at the million dollars.

Sexton rode back to the mechanic’s area where he was escorted back to his pits. After further evaluation, his team made the tough decision not to race the remainder of the evening.

“Chase will not be racing this final race (Moto 2),” shared Ian Harrison, Team Manager for Red Bull KTM Factory Racing. “He got landed on and hurt his right hand. We’ll need x-rays to further evaluate it. It’s just disappointing to make it all this way after 31 races and not be able to finish, but the most important thing is Chase’s health.”

For Sexton, he was scheduled to compete with Team USA in the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations. It was announced earlier this week that Chance Hymas was declared out for his knee surgery to address his torn ACL. Cooper Webb will take his place. The team has not yet announced his status with MXoN, but more is expected to unfold after his x-ray scans. MXoN is scheduled to begin on Friday, October 4 at Matterley Basin in Great Britain.

In Las Vegas, he would finish 24th overall in the race and claim seventh in the 450SMX points standings.
