Kaulig Racing has officially revealed the next driver in its unique “Free Agent” program, announcing that accomplished sports car racer Colin Braun will return to drive the team’s No. 25 RAM 1500 in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Lime Rock Park on July 11.
The announcement marks Braun’s second outing with the organization this season after making an impressive return to the Truck Series earlier this year. Braun previously drove Kaulig’s No. 25 entry at the Streets of St. Petersburg, which marked his first NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series appearance since 2011.
Despite the lengthy absence, he adapted quickly and brought the truck home in ninth place, delivering the first top-10 finish for Kaulig Racing’s No. 25 “Free Agent” entry during the 2026 season.
Now, the veteran road racer will look to build on that momentum as the series heads to Lime Rock Park, one of the newest additions to the Truck Series schedule.

Expressing his excitement about the opportunity, Braun described Lime Rock Park as a venue with deep history and a pure road course challenge. He said,
“Racing at Lime Rock Park feels special, because of its deep history and pure road course challenge. It’s exciting to see the Truck Series compete here and add another chapter to this track’s legacy.”
He added that he enjoyed working with Kaulig Racing during his St. Petersburg appearance and is eager to reunite with the team, emphasizing that their objective is to compete for the win.
Although Braun has spent much of the last decade establishing himself as one of North America’s premier sports car drivers, he also boasts a strong NASCAR Truck Series résumé.
He debuted in the series with Roush Fenway Racing at Martinsville Speedway in 2007 before competing full-time over the following two seasons.
Braun captured the 2008 Rookie of the Year award and earned his lone Truck Series victory at Michigan International Speedway in 2009, a season in which he posted nine top-five finishes, 14 top-10s, and ended the year P5 in the championship standings.
Across 54 career Truck Series starts, he has accumulated one win, 12 top-five finishes, and 24 top-10 results. Since stepping away from NASCAR, Braun has built an exceptional career in sports car racing.
The Texan currently competes for Meyer Shank Racing in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, where he co-drives an Acura ARX-06 prototype.
His accomplishments also include three IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship titles, four wins in the Rolex 24 at Daytona, including the overall GTP-class triumph in 2023, as well as wins in prestigious endurance races such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the 24 Hours of Spa, and the 12 Hours of Sebring. He also bagged the 2023-24 Asian Le Mans Series championship and the 2023 Fanatec GT World Challenge America Pro-Am title.
Braun’s return is another interesting attempt by Kaulig Racing’s innovative Free Agent program, which the organization introduced ahead of its first Truck Series season in late 2025. Instead of assigning a full-time driver to the No. 25 truck, the team rotates competitors from a variety of racing backgrounds and disciplines throughout the season.
While these drivers are not eligible to compete for the Truck Series drivers’ championship in the No. 25 entry, their performances are evaluated throughout the year for a season-ending program prize. The No. 25 truck, led by crew chief Alex Yontz, currently sits 25th in the owner standings after 13 races.
Throughout the season, the entry has already featured an accomplished lineup that includes Tony Stewart, Ty Dillon, Corey LaJoie, Carson Ferguson, Parker Kligerman, AJ Allmendinger, Clint Bowyer, Travis Pastrana, Jamie McMurray, and Braun himself.
AJ Allmendinger currently owns the truck’s best finish of the season after bringing it home sixth at Watkins Glen International, while Ty Dillon, Carson Ferguson, and Parker Kligerman have each made two starts in the entry.
Kaulig Racing has already confirmed that Ryan Newman will take over the No. 25 truck at North Wilkesboro Speedway on July 18, with Conor Daly scheduled to drive the following weekend at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park.
The team has yet to announce the remaining drivers who will complete the Free Agent lineup for the rest of the 2026 Truck Series season.
