Hours after qualifying for the 110th Indianapolis 500, IndyCar and IndyCar Officiating announced penalties to the cars of Caio Collet and Jack Harvey.
Collet, the pilot of car No.4, and Harvey, of car No.24 were found to have failed post qualification inspection after the teams were found to have made modifications to the Dallara-supplied Energy Management System (EMS) covers and cover to-A-arm mounting points with unapproved hardware.
The aforementioned covers are carbon fiber suspension covers, enclosing the wheel tethers. Since the part is spec, it is not to be modified for any team.
The EMS covers must be used as supplied, per the IndyCar rulebook. Both A.J. Foyt Racing and Dreyer & Reinbold Racing were in violation of Rules 14.12.1.1 and Rule 14.12.1.6 in the rulebook.
The penalties, levied late on Sunday evening, are the same infractions that Indycar gave Andretti Autosport cars of Marcus Ericsson and Kyle Kirkwood after the 2025 Indianapolis 500.
As a result, both car Nos.4 and 24 are moved to the rear of the “500” field with times and speeds disallowed. Collet will start in 32nd and Harvey, in 33rd. Collet also earned points through his inclusion in the Top 12 qualifying shootout. Those points have since been disallowed.
Scott Dixon (car No.9) and Rinus Veekay (car No.76) move up in the starting grid to 10th and 11th, respectively, and will earn points, as a result.
Lastly, Collet and Harvey will select their pit boxes last after the remainder of the field has had an opportunity to select a box.
Important to note, both teams are able to appeal, per IndyCar Officiating.
