Ty Gibbs Earns General Tire Pole Award at Pocono; Chandler Smith Qualifies Second

Yet again, Ty Gibbs was fastest in General Tire Pole qualifying. Gibbs earned his 10th career pole Friday at Pocono Raceway. 

Gibbs turned a 52.393-second lap around the “Tricky Triangle” en-route to his first Pocono pole and fourth of 2021. 

Full-time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver Chandler Smith rolled out the second-fastest lap of the session, 0.447-seconds off of Gibbs pole-winning pace.

Points leader Corey Heim qualified third while Sam Mayer and Jack Wood rounded out the top-five speeds.

Gibbs has been the fastest driver so far at Pocono Raceway leading both Thursday’s and today’s practice sessions in advance of Friday’s race. 

Nick Sanchez, Drew Dollar, Kyle Sieg, Andy Jankowiak, and Thad Moffit round out the top-10 starting spots.

The General Tire #AnywhereIsPossible 200 at Pocono Raceway will be broadcasted live on FOX Sports 1 starting at 6 p.m ET and will also be broadcasted live on MRN and SiriusXM. A delayed version of the race will be available for streaming on NBC Sports Gold: TrackPass following the event.
