Donate Life Texas, Joey Gase team up for an organ and tissue donation tribute

This Sunday at Texas Motor Speedway you will see a black and green #51 car with the Donate Life Texas sponsorship on it. More importantly, on the bumper, you will see three photos of honorees and more than 200 Handprints of Hope on the hood!

In what has become an annual tradition for what Gase calls “Handprints of Hope,” organ, eye and tissue honorees, including family and friends, were invited to submit virtual handprints and messages of hope to be displayed on the Donate Life Texas #51 car. This year, organ donor Raven Goff and heart recipient, Diana Evans and 200 other Texans will be featured on Gase’s car at Texas Motor Speedway.

Six-year-old Raven Goff died after being involved in a tragic accident in January of this year. Her giving spirit lives on after her parents made the decision to give the gift of life. Raven left a lasting legacy helping to save the lives of six patients through the donation of her heart, liver, two kidneys and pancreas. Her gift as a cornea donor also gave sight to two small children.

Diana Evans was diagnosed with idiopathic cardiomyopathy, an enlarged heart, in March of 2000. Her doctor had informed her that there was no cure for this condition, and she would most likely need a heart transplant within two years to survive. Diana was listed for transplant on November 1, 2017 and nine days later was blessed with a new heart and a new life.

Mary Gase (Joey’s Mother) passed away tragically of a sudden brain aneurysm in April of 2011. Faced with a difficult decision, he and his family gave their consent to donate his mother’s organs. Later, they learned that her gift helped to save and improve the lives of 66 people and her legacy lives on today!

“I am excited to be teaming up again with our friends at Donate Life Texas. I’m thankful for their partnership this weekend so we can not only race, but more importantly raise awareness for organ, eye and tissue donation and honoring all of these amazing people,” says Gase.
