This Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway will mark NASCAR Cup Series driver Brennan Poole’s first start in the event.

It will also present a unique opportunity as Poole and his sponsor Spartan Mosquito will team up to take care of Americans and the service people who fight for their freedom.

Poole who pilots the No. 15 Spartan Mosquito Chevrolet Camaro for Premium Motorsports has donated a portion of his salary to provide 500,000 meals to his hometown in Houston, Texas.

“During this incredibly hard time, it is so important to make an impact and provide some relief to the city that built me,” Poole said. “Food fuels our communities. When we support food banks, we directly get food into the hands of those who need it and broaden the strength of our recovery.”

In addition to Poole’s contribution, his sponsor Spartan Mosquito has committed to donating $125,000 in mosquito products for the Veteran’s within the city of Houston this Memorial Day weekend.

The provided meals are in support of the Houston Food Bank during the current COVID-19 pandemic. The food bank has been distributing upwards of 1 million pounds of food a day to those in need during these tough times.

“They often say, ‘you can take the person out of Texas, but you can’t take the Texas out of the person,’ and Brennan is proof of that,” says Brian Greene, President/CEO of Houston Food Bank.

“Brennan made a generous donation during Hurricane Harvey, and now that Houston is facing its greatest need ever as a result of COVID-19, he is once again showing his support for his hometown. On behalf of Houston Food Bank and the tens of thousands of people who will be touched by his generous donation, we thank you.”

Currently, the Houston Food Bank is experiencing a significant increase of 130%-150%  in demand over the 1.1 million food insecure people in their service area. They are serving 128,333 households per week which is a staggering increase of 93% from this time one year ago.

On Friday, at 11am ET, Houston Food Bank CEO Brian Greene will join Brennan Poole on Instagram Live from the food bank warehouse. Greene will showcase the impact of this donation, how they are responding to COVID-19, and what you can do to help their efforts during this time.

“There are so many things we need to honor this Memorial Day and Coca-Cola 600 weekend. Our first responders and medical professionals, those greatly affected by COVID-19, and the men and women of the Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. I am so proud to be an American and to wear the Spartan colors this weekend and every time I’m on the track,” Poole said.

In this Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600 from NASCAR’s backyard at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Poole and his No. 15 Spartan Mosquito Chevrolet will proudly honor SFC. Nathan Ross Chapman from 1st Special Forces Group. Chapman was the first casualty of the GWOT and was killed on January 4, 2002 in Khost Afghanistan.

Additionally, three members of the Spartan Mosquito family have also proudly served in the 1st Special Forces Group.

Poole is very humbled to honor Nathan Ross Chapman this Sunday as NASCAR Salutes with 600 miles of remembrance at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Tune into FOX at 6 p.m. ET on May 24 for live coverage.
